Sultanahmet is about 4 km from Galataport, across the Golden Horn. The car crosses the Galata Bridge to Eminönü and climbs to the Old City; the drive takes 10 to 20 minutes, more when the streets around Eminönü are crowded. We drive to every hotel in the Old City: Sultanahmet, Cankurtaran, Sirkeci, Eminönü, Laleli and Beyazıt.

The T1 tram is the easiest public option: it runs from Tophane, a 5-minute walk from the port, to Sultanahmet with no change. With suitcases, though, a car is easier: the driver meets you at the terminal exit and takes you to your hotel, or to the nearest point a car may reach in the Old City.
Arriving in Sultanahmet
Sultanahmet is Istanbul's Old City: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar are all within walking distance. Many of its hotels stand on narrow or pedestrian streets, especially around the Hippodrome and in Cankurtaran. Where cars may not enter, the driver uses the nearest drop-off point, usually a short walk away, and helps you with your bags. Add your hotel's name and address when you book.
The T1 tram runs through Sultanahmet to Eminönü, Karaköy and Kabataş, and Sirkeci station, on the Marmaray line under the Bosphorus, is a short walk downhill.
