The drive from Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim

Taksim is on the European side of Istanbul, so this transfer crosses the Bosphorus, by the 15 July Martyrs Bridge or the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, whichever is moving better. The trip is about 50 km: about 50 minutes at night, up to 90 minutes on weekday evenings, when the bridges are at their busiest.

Bridge and motorway tolls are included in our price. Crossing by the Eurasia Tunnel instead costs 10 euros extra, and by car ferry 7 euros. Taksim and Beyoğlu are the heart of modern Istanbul, with İstiklal Avenue, Galata and Cihangir within walking distance; we drive to any hotel in the area, and to Şişli, Nişantaşı and Harbiye a little further north.

How you meet your driver

Five steps from the plane to the car.

  1. We follow your flightWith the flight number in your booking we watch your arrival time. If you land early or late, the driver adjusts; delays of up to 6 hours cost nothing extra.
  2. You get the meeting detailsBefore you arrive we confirm the meeting details on WhatsApp. Switch your phone on after landing so the driver can reach you.
  3. Passport control and baggageGo through passport control, collect your bags and walk through customs. Your 90 minutes of free waiting are counted from the moment your plane lands, which is enough for most passport queues.
  4. Look for your nameYour driver waits in the arrivals hall of your flight, international or domestic, with a sign showing your name or the 3E logo.
  5. To the carThe driver helps with your luggage and walks you to the car. You pay at the end of the ride, in cash, in Turkish lira, euros or dollars.

Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim: your options

There are four ways to get from Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim. This is how they compare.

Fares checked in October 2026: taxi tariff of 20 July 2026, Havabüs fares on havabus.com, İstanbulkart fare of July 2026. They change during the year.

Havabüs is the simplest public option: it runs every 30 minutes from 06:30 to 01:30 and ends at Taksim by Gezi Park, so for one person travelling light to a hotel near the square it works well. For two or more people with suitcases, a private transfer costs little more than a taxi, takes you to the door and has a price you know before you fly.

Arriving in Taksim

Taksim Square and İstiklal Avenue are pedestrian zones, and many hotels in Beyoğlu, Cihangir and Galata stand on steep, narrow streets. The driver takes you as close to your hotel's door as a car may go; where cars cannot enter, they stop at the nearest point and help you with your bags. Add your hotel's name and address when you book, and we plan the best approach.

From Taksim the M2 metro runs north to Osmanbey and Levent and south across the Golden Horn to Yenikapı, and the F1 funicular goes down to Kabataş on the Bosphorus, where the T1 tram leaves for Sultanahmet.

Questions about this transfer

How long does the transfer from Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) to Taksim take?

About 50–90 minutes for roughly 50 km, depending on traffic.

Is the price per person?

No. The price is per vehicle and fixed when you book, so traffic does not change it.

Where does the driver meet me?

In the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. We follow your flight, so the driver is there even if you land late.

Is there a bus from Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim?

Yes. Havabüs runs every 30 minutes from 06:30 to 01:30, takes about an hour and a half and costs 485 TL per person (October 2026). It ends at Taksim by Gezi Park, so you may still need a taxi to your hotel.

How much is a taxi from Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim?

On the Istanbul meter, 71.94 TL to start plus 47.92 TL per kilometre since July 2026, the 50 km come to roughly 2,500 TL in normal traffic, more when the bridges are jammed. Our price is fixed per vehicle and shown before you book.

Which bridge does the car take?

The 15 July Martyrs Bridge or the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, whichever is moving better at the time. Traffic on the bridges changes the driving time, never our price.

What if my flight lands after midnight?

Your driver waits whatever the time: we track your flight, and delays of up to 6 hours cost nothing extra. The metro stops around midnight, and the last Havabüs leaves the airport at 01:30.

Can you take me from Taksim back to Sabiha Gökçen?

Yes. Book a pickup from your hotel. For an international flight we suggest leaving 4 to 4½ hours before departure, as the bridges can be slow.
