From Galataport to Taksim
Taksim is only about 3 km from Galataport, but nearly all of it uphill: from the waterfront at Tophane the road climbs to Taksim Square through Cihangir or by Kabataş and Gümüşsuyu. By car it takes 10 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic in Karaköy and on the shore road.
On foot it is a climb of 20 to 25 minutes, fine without luggage but hard work with suitcases. We drive to every hotel in Taksim, Beyoğlu, Cihangir and Galata, and to Şişli and Nişantaşı a little further north.

Without luggage, the walk up through Cihangir, or the tram and the funicular, are easy ways to Taksim. With suitcases, the climb and the change at Kabataş are hard work; a car meets you at the terminal exit and takes you to your hotel's door, or as close as a car may go.
Arriving in Taksim
Taksim Square and İstiklal Avenue are pedestrian zones, and many hotels in Beyoğlu, Cihangir and Galata stand on steep, narrow streets. The driver takes you as close to your hotel's door as a car may go; where cars cannot enter, they stop at the nearest point and help you with your bags. Add your hotel's name and address when you book, and we plan the best approach.
From Taksim the M2 metro runs north to Osmanbey and Levent and south across the Golden Horn to Yenikapı, and the F1 funicular goes down to Kabataş on the Bosphorus, where the T1 tram leaves for Sultanahmet.
